Q. Is Mesotherapy Useful in Hair Restoration?
Question: Is mesotherapy useful in hair restoration? To answer this question, it is first best to understand what mesotherapy is. Mesotherapy is the use of injections to deliver chemical compounds such as: Acetyl tetrapeptide-3 and Biochanin A below the skin to the hair follicles. It is also possible to inject nucleic acids, vitamins, minerals and co-enzymes as well for hair restoration. These microinjections are placed about 1mm below the surface. Although mesotherapy is quite popular in Europe and South America, it is not as widely used in the United States for the restoration of hair and it is not an approved form of hair loss treatment.

At the moment, it does not have enough clinical research evidence to support its effectiveness to substitute FDA approved drugs for hair loss. Additionally, there is no standards when it comes to dosing and what regimen is to be injected. It is not clear how much of the medication reaches its target tissue receptors if at all

It is also important to realize that there are many variables which contribute to hair loss. And a main factor to consider is how advanced the condition is. When follicles have miniaturized to a considerable extent, it would be extremely difficult to reverse this state.
