Illusion of Hair Coverage

FUE Hair Restoration Cost| Information For Patients
Traditional hair transplants tend to create an illusion of hair coverage. An illusion of hair coverage can be achieved by some of the following maneuvers:

  1. Keeping the hair long so that its laying on the skin surface adds to the coverage of bare scalp skin
  2. Cutting the hair on the sides and back reduces the contrast in density between the back-sides and the thinning top.
  3. With shorter haircuts, the need for more grafts on the top of the head is minimized.
  4. Dyeing the hair blondish to further reduce contrast between light skin and dark hair

In strip surgery, because of fear of exposing the strip surgery scar; the hair in the back and sides of the head must be kept sufficiently long. However, keeping a long and dense hair on the side and back maximizes the appearance of baldness on the top and the patient is thus forced to require even more and more hair transplants to increase density to the top in an attempt to match the density of the side and back of the head.

If you have a hair transplant scar from a hair restoration procedure using the follicular unit strip surgery method, you may be caught in this vicious cycle of the strip surgery scar and density issues. Fortunately, with the advent of the Follicular unit extraction (FUE) procedure, the patient can now avoid the problem of linear scars.

After uGraft hair restoration the linear scar is covered enabling a shorter hair cut which adds to the illusion of coverage
