Q. How are body hair grafts different from head hair?
The two main differences between body hair grafts and those which grow on the head are:

  1. body hair thrives on DHT (dehydrotestosterone), whereas head hair will shrink as a result
  2. body hair grow at very sharp angles compared to head hair
  3. body hair grafts are more delicate compared to head grafts. It means they are more susceptible to damage during extraction.
  4. there are often more body hair grafts in resting phase compared to hair in growth phase. The proportion is reversed for head derived hair grafts

Once transplanted, body hair will be far more resilient compared to one’s natural head hair. And the growth angles of body hair grafts actually puts them at risk for being damaged by standard FUE punches.

This is why Dermhair Clinic has developed specialized Advanced Follicular Unit Extraction punches called uGraft. It has been designed with special features that enable body hair follicles to be safely extracted. Through this reliable system for performing body hair transplant procedures,  it is possible to remove large quantities of hair structures from body regions in order to produce desired levels of coverage for even the most extreme cases of hair loss.
