More Donor Grafts Possible With UGraft
UGraft Advantages for Hair Restoration
UGraft Advantages for Hair Restoration: If you have browsed through our patient videos, you may have wondered how our patients have been able to attain extraordinary results. Some of these individuals have had graft counts in the tens of thousands. And we have even been able to treat patients who were severely bald, even though most other clinics would have turned them down.

Although we do pride ourselves on skill and artistry, we also attribute the quality of these outcomes to our exclusive surgical system called uGraft, which was developed by Dr. Umar.

UGraft Advantages for Hair Restoration: Challenges of Typical FUE Tools

What UGraft advantages are there compared to other FUE technologies? Many people are recognizing the advantages of Follicular Unit Extraction over strip surgery. However, the most conventional FUE practices do have their limitations. As you may know, Follicular Unit Extraction requires that doctors excise each individual hair graft directly from the source. They make round excisions around each follicular unit in order to harvest each graft.

This is a process that requires great care and handling. And therefore, it is best performed with hand held tools, not automated machines. However, with the instruments that are commonly available, there is still a relatively high risk of damaging the follicle. Hair often grows at angles. And the direction of growth is not always a straight line. There is also the chance that the graft can even become buried as the surgeon tries to retrieve each follicular unit.

What Makes uGraft Tools Special?

Among UGraft advantages is the fact that it is a hand held motorized FUE tool used for extracting the follicular grafts. It utilizes a  highly customized punch. The edges are specially shaped using digital precision of computer software.

Since body hair is on areas that are highly visible (e.g. face, neck, chest), it is essential for the wounds to heal effectively, with extremely minimal scarring (if any). Therefore the punches used to extract these follicles must be exceptionally small. UGraft not only takes into account the size of the extraction wounds, but also the shape as well.  By addressing both these factors, healing can occur rapidly with extremely minimal risk of scarring. The shape allows follicles to be extracted safely even when they are angled in a curvilinear fashion.

Furthermore, uGraft also uses a very subtle pulling action to help extract grafts safely. Conventional FUE instruments need to be positioned very accurately in order to encompass the area around each follicular unit. Since hairs grow at an angle, this is not always easy. Human error can result in a faulty positioning of the punch tool which can damage or bury the grafts.

uGraft and Advanced Follicular Unit Extraction

The qualities of uGraft allow it to used for objectives above and beyond the capabilities of  conventional Follicular Unit Extraction.

It is quite understandable that many patients want greater coverage than  the maximum of 7,000 grafts which can be supplied by the head. Severe baldness and repair procedures often require much greater quantities than this.

Additional follicles can be harvested from regions on the body such as the legs, arms, chest, back and beard area. Because these areas are quite visible (unless they are covered by clothing), the presence of scarring is not desirable. Therefore it is essential that extractions are performed in such a way that the wounds can heal quickly and become virtually unnoticeable.

Due to high level of precision offered by uGraft, the needs of advanced Follicular Unit Extraction objectives can be meet.  Therefore these tools are exceptionally ideal for body hair transplant procedures.

With the refinement offered by uGraft, nape hair can also be harvested for softer detail that is required for areas like the hairline, temples and eyebrows.
