Photos of Acne Keloidalis Nuchae Scar Removal Surgery Results: Acne keloidalis nuchae, also known as AKN, afflicted this patient for several years. As with others, his AKN had begun as small bumps on the back of his head near the nape of the neck. But it grew to the massive puss-filled plaques that the condition is known for. These large pustules caused permanent damage to his scalp tissue, resulting in scarring and hair loss.

The patient in these Photos of Acne Keloidalis Nuchae Scar Removal Surgery Results stated in a video interview“I didn’t want anyone to stand behind me,” the patient said of his AKN. He was embarrassed by it, and knew it was time to find treatment. After a series of steroid injections to the area failed to improve the condition, he decided surgical excision was the only way. But the surgery was unsuccessful, and his acne keloidalis nuchae came back more severe.

The patient eventually presented to DermHair Clinic to see about another surgery. Finally, something worked. Dr. Umar effectively removed the infected area, with no signs of AKN left behind. This final surgery succeeded in further refining the patient’s scar. “[The scar] is much smaller, flatter. And I like it,” said the patient. “Before I was very conscious about it… Now, I don’t really think about it.”
