In this example, Dr Sanusi Umar uses Beard, Nape and Head hair by is SFET method to restore the crown (Using beard hair only) and refine the hairline (Using nape and head donor areas). After undergoing FUSS / FUHT / FUT at another clinic, the patient was still left with a bald crown and overly recessed hairline. Dr Umar uses non head hair (facial, body) in patients that have a relative or absolute lack of traditional donor sources ( back of the head). The use of body hair for transplantation is called body hair transplantation (BHT)
Dr. Sanusi Umar uses the SFET procedure to transplant beard hair into two strip scars to successfully improve the appearance of the scar.
The patient had undergone prior strip type surgical hair restoration at two separate clinics that left him with two strip scars in the back and sides of his head.
The patient had lost his donor hair supply after multiple antiquated scalp surgeries, which had still left him bald along with many disfiguring scars. His surgeries included multiple scalp reductions, strip, and punch hair transplants, with the creation of unnatural plugs in the frontal scalp and hairline. The patient had ridging and pitting result from these "pluggy" transplants, and his temples and half of his head were devoid of hair from the progression of hair loss and excessive scalp reduction. The crown had been deformed to form a slot with abnormally angled hair fanning out from it. Before seeing Dr. Umar, the patient had also undergone a double flap procedure to correct the poorly angled hair on the back of his head. However, having run out of traditional head donor hair, he was left incomplete with no hair transplant repair options, and was referred to Dr. Umar with the prospect of having BHT. Dr. Umar carried out the repair using about 15,000 chest, stomach, and shoulder hair grafts, 6000 beard hair grafts, and only about 1000 head hair grafts. The procedure was completed in 3 major sessions at 6 monthly intervals. The result of Dr. Umar's repair shown in this video was recorded at 6 months after the last repair session. Even though more improvement and healing was to ensue within the next 9 to 12 months, the patient stated that he had already "gotten his smile back," and that his life was transformed and filled with more fulfillment and confidence.
This is a repair work was done by using solely body and beard hair. The patient's unfortunate hair surgery outcome resulted from multiple old fashioned and traditional hair surgeries, and thus the patient was left with extensive scarring, decimated head donor, plugging and advanced baldness. Consequently, his only option was to resort to wearing a hair piece, also known as a wig or toupee. However, his receded temple points and the absence of the hairline made the hairpiece noticeably obvious. He wanted a natural hairline to precede the hairpiece and wanted his temple points built to sync with his hair piece. Most importantly, the patient wanted the extent of his baldness reduced in the margins and also wanted the punch style excision scars in his donor area covered with hair. However, the patient had no donor hair left for these procedures to be in effect.
Dr Umar used body hair achieve this patient's hair restoration and repair. By using the technique known as body hair transplant (BHT), Dr. Umar was able to use only the patient's chest, stomach, and beard hair to accomplish a superior and natural looking repair. With the BHT technique and his expertise, Dr. Umar has given hope to many patients who had lost hope in ever restoring their hair or repairing a bad surgery.
