Hair Transplant Repair, Getting Rid of a Strip Scar After FUT
Hair Transplant Repair, Getting Rid of a Strip Scar After FUT : Not all surgical hair restoration techniques were created equal. Different methods have varying benefits and disadvantages. One of the major, well-known disadvantages of the popular technique, follicular unit transplant (FUT) is the strip scar it leaves behind. This method is a common procurer of hair transplant repair because the scar frequently widens over time. Hair restoration surgery patients find, to their horror, that a wound closure touted as “pencil thin” and that even started out as such, has grown to a much larger size. Having long hair doesn’t adequately conceal it anymore—bearers fear its unearthing in windy weather or while swimming.

Creams, lasers, and ointments aren’t powerful enough to undo the damage. So when people ask the common question, “How do I get rid of my strip scar?” there’s really only one answer. Repair surgery using follicular unit extraction is one of the most effective ways to improve the damage of FUT.

Hair Transplant Repair, Getting Rid of a Strip Scar: Rationale

FUE uses a small punch tool to remove donor hair one at a time from the rear scalp, creating several microscopic wounds approximately 1mm in size. This enables the surgeon to excise the few hundred grafts needed for the repair in a diffuse pattern, selecting prime follicles for density and coverage. Once these grafts are removed, they are then placed strategically in the area of scarring. FUE maximizes strip scar concealment while making any new scarring visually negligible.

Since only a small number of grafts are needed, the cost is reasonable. The patient is thereafter able to cut his hair short, wear unrestricted hairstyles, and go swimming worry-free. If head hair is not available, advanced FUE by UGraft should be considered in harnessing body and beard hair donors for this purpose. Hair Transplant Repair, Getting Rid of a Strip Scar:

Testimonials

The following patients had each undergone FUT procedures and were later unhappy with the hairstyle restrictions caused by their scarring. One of them even tried getting the area filled in with tattooing, but this effort was futile. Dr. Umar was able to successfully fill the scars of each one using a small number of FUE grafts. Beard hair was sometime used for optimal density. These patients are all strip scar free and happy with their decision to pursue repair.
