Ethnic Hair Transplant: 1,000 Grafts for Success with an Asian Patient

Though the technical procedure of FUE hair transplant is the same for all, there are some differences between ethnicities only an expert knows to take note of.
Generally speaking, Asian people have thicker hair follicles but less hairs per centimeter of scalp. This means the hair has the illusion of greater density, but in fact there’s not as much there to work with as it seems. The lower hair density requires great care when doing the transplant, and larger donor region must be used to obtain the hairs needed for the procedure.

In this case Dr. Umar uses his Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer (SFET) method of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedure to refine and advance a NW3 case using 3500 grafts derived from the head donor area and nape to create a soft natural hairline and restore him from NW 3 to a state of zero appearance of baldness.

For the treatment of baldness (hair loss), Dr Umar uses a group of techniques to perform hair transplantion called Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer (SFET). This is his version of the hair restoration procedure commonly referred to as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). SFET enables Dr Umar to utilize donor hair outside the confines of widely available traditional methods. Thus hair from the beard and body areas are also used. This is especially useful in severely bald individuals or those whose head donor supply has been decimated by antiquated techniques.
